Continued success at Batwa Farm at Matanda
BATWA FARM AT MATANDA [KIHIHI] UGANDA
We continue to receive great news from Mushamba and Robert regarding the operation and harvests of the Batwa Farm at Matanda.
At the end of August they harvested and transported from the farm to the milling factory: 10 large maize sacs and fifteen large sacs of cassava. The total kilograms for maize was 1150kgs. We got 886 kilograms of clean maize and two and a half sacs of the remains. They packed the maize flour in 10 kgs bags. We weighed cassava also and got 1127 kilograms of cassava but this was not processed into flour.
Mushamba and Robert are arranging to transport the produce tomorrow to Buhoma, Bwindi where the maize flour and the cassava will be stored and distributed to the Batwa families.
We continue to enjoy impressive planting and harvesting seasons [twice each year!]. For many families this is a real opportunity to provide three (3) meals each day for their children and families. The farm is a great example of a project that provides the Batwa families with a local and sustainable source of food for their future!
